Early this year, Intellectual Property India, GoI listed Shoolini University among the top 10 patents filing Indian Universities and Institutions in its annual report for 2015-2016. Shoolini University follows a research-driven model, which is supported by an infrastructure of more than 85 science labs and around 200 MPhil and PhD scholars. Some other patents filed this year include:
The Machine for Calculating Cutting Force has been developed by the university's department of mechanical engineering. Cutting force is the minimum amount of force used by a machine tool to cut a work material. It is an important parameter to consider while devising this cutting tool. Generally, cutting a work material requires use of high-quality piezoelectric sensors. This machine would also prove economical. Some researchers have also come up with similar economical alternative methods for use in small-scale industries.
The mechanical engineers at Shoolini University have attempted to develop a similar method by using energy that was spent methodologically to measure cutting force. They use mathematical relations and calculate cutting force of wood to measure the change in power utilized during the cutting process. This cutting force further helps in designing a CNC machine. The cutting force measuring machine has been invented by Sashank Thapa.
The idea behind the Cooling Pad for Mobile Phones is to avoid heating up of these gadgets. Mobile users are known to face harmful and injurious consequences because of overheating of mobile phones. There have been cases in past when excessive heating of mobile phones has resulted in blasts that caused deep injuries to users.
Invented by Shoolini's Sorabh Aggarwal, the Cooling Pad for Mobile Phones aims to prevent such overheating. The pad works by throwing excessive heat out of the phone and prevents mobile temperature from soaring. The cooling pad comprises one or more USB fans that would operate via mobile battery. An interesting part is that this cooling pad can be integrated with the mobile cover. So there is no need to carry an additional mobile accessory.
Shoolini University is one of the fastest growing private universities in India. It was founded in 2009 by its Vice Chancellor Prem Kumar Khosla. This year, the university was ranked in the bracket of 100-150 by National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF), GoI.
The university aims to be ranked among the top 200 global universities by 2022. In the region, it has filed the highest number of patents (58 patents) in the field of research, technology and engineering.
