On 19th April, 296 students assisted by Team Rungta attempted this record, which was earlier held by 214 people in a singing relay. The whole event was notified to Guinness officials a month before, but the approval to hold the event was given only on 12th April. Exactly a week and many rehearsals later, the final singing relay was attempted in front of adjudicators and the recording attested by adjudicators and photos of the event were sent to the Guinness. After 12 weeks of scrutiny, the Guinness Book of World Records sent a written confirmation accepting and acknowledging the record.
Dr Jawahar Surisetti along with Team Rungta acknowledged the contribution of the teaching and non-teaching members of the Santosh Rungta Group as well as the 296 students who participated in the event. He also thanked and congratulated the adjudicators - Mr Pawan Deo, IG Police and Dr Unnikrishnan, Dean of Department of Carnatic Music of Khairagarh University. In a hectic rehearsal by the team, the perfection and coordination among the students along with the coordination of handing over the mikes on time to the 296 students was a humongous exercise of perfect coordination between the team leaders, ushers and the students. The seating arrangement of students in sets of 10, the handing over of mikes in rows and the word allocated along with the synchronisation was done in record time. On the final day, the team rehearsed in the open amid the scorching heat.
The students had to sing only one word of the patriotic song from Karma, and each of them had to sing in laya and raga in sync with the next and previous singer. The team achieved the rare feat for the country. Mr Santosh Rungta along with Sourabh and Sonal Rungta extended their heartfelt gratitude to the whole team.
