MUMBAI, May 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Rolta India Limited today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Rolta Middle East, has been awarded a multi-million dollar project by Oman's National Survey Authority (NSA). The project, which is the second phase of a multi-dimensional map production and workflow system, will result in a number of deliverables. These include enhanced workflow designs for improving map production, archival and distribution systems, in addition to the generation of a nationwide coverage of 1:50,000 and 1:100,000 scale maps to be stored as a vector database as well as in a GeoPDF format. These digital map-products will be made available by NSA via Rolta's OnPoint eCommerce solution to various stakeholders in the Sultanate of Oman.

Oman NSA was established in 1984 with responsibilities for survey and digital mapping activities in the Sultanate of Oman and for assembling/maintaining the Sultanate's geographic archives. NSA is the nodal authority for production and supply of topographic maps and digital data for Oman.
An NSA Official said, "We have an ambitious vision to have a world-class national mapping organization, and are committed to adopting cutting-edge technologies to better serve our user-base that includes government agencies and citizens." "Recognizing Rolta's proven track record and expertise in geospatial technologies, we are happy to be working with them for this second phase of our project," he added.
Oman NSA previously worked with Rolta on the first phase of this overall initiative which required the creation of a robust geospatial data model as the foundation for improving workflows and increased efficiencies. This was achieved in a collaborative effort between Rolta and NSA during which Rolta supplied state-of-the-art hardware and software, re-engineered the workflows, implemented an eCommerce solution using Rolta OnPoint, and trained various NSA team members. This new project will continue to leverage the work done in phase I.
Mr. Reida Elwannas, President of Rolta Middle East commented, "We are pleased that our performance in the first phase of the project has been appreciated by Oman NSA. This project will further develop and expand on the work previously done, helping NSA to achieve their goal of establishing highly sophisticated systems and work-flows."
