DUBLIN, February 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
The India smartphone market is expected to grow with a CAGR of 10.95% by 2018, according to an industry report available from Research and Markets. This growth could be even higher, as an Indian mobile phone manufacturer announced their plans to launch a USD 4 smartphone tomorrow, Feb. 18. The Freedom 251, developed and manufactured by Ringing Bells, is believed to be the world's cheapest smartphone and offers buyers a host of features one would expect from a standard priced device.

The Freedom 251 uses the Android Lollipop 5.1 operating system and is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor. The device comes with a 3.2-megapixel camera, 8GB of storage, a one-year warranty and access to all apps on Google's Play store. It is believed that Ringing Bells have been subsidised by the government under the country's 'Made in India' programme, allowing the company to manufacture the smartphone for an incredibly low cost.
The global smartphone market is to grow at a CAGR of 8.1% by 2019, as highlighted in a recent report, but as with the India smartphone market this figure could see an impressive increase. Smartphone adoption in India is the fastest in the Asia-Pacific region, as highlighted in a recent report, with the falling prices of smartphones driving the adopting trend. Ringing Bells' Freedom 251 smartphone can only further accelerate this trend, putting India in direct competition with China as the world's largest smartphone market.
