Public Interest Registry Launches 1,050,000 INR #IndiaForGoodContest for Non-Governmental Organisations
Grand Prize Winner Awarded 300,000 INR Donation to Support NGO Mission; Fifty Runner-Up Prizes Will Receive 15,000 INR
RESTON, Virginia, July 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Public Interest Registry – the nonprofit operator of the .ngo domain – launched its #IndiaForGood Contest, which will recognize India-based non-governmental organisations that exhibit the most creative and inspiring profiles on OnGood, an online community that gives non-governmental organizations (NGOs) a way to raise awareness, funds and support for their missions. Public Interest Registry will award one grand prize 300,000 INR award and 50 runner-up 15,000 INR awards to support Indian NGO causes.
"We used to say that if you're not online, you don't exist, but simply being online is no longer enough," said Dave Stewart, vice president of sales and marketing, Public Interest Registry. "Our goal for this contest is to inspire the NGO community in India to create their unique online identities with their OnGood profile pages. We provide NGOs a place on the web to highlight their missions, provide updates to supporters, and showcase videos and photos of how they impact lives within their communities and across the globe."
All India-based NGOs that have purchased a .ngo or .ong domain name from a participating ICANN-accredited registrar and meet OnGood validation requirements will be eligible to participate, unless the organization chooses to opt out. To enter, organizations in India that register or have previously registered for a .ngo and .ong domain name bundle must activate and complete their organization's OnGood profile page by August 30, 2016. Participating NGOs must also be permitted to receive donation from foreign jurisdictions to be eligible to win. Valid profiles will be judged on messaging, imagery and mission, among other criteria.
Earlier this year, Public Interest Registry launched the U.S.-based #CashForGood Contest, which also gave NGOs with a registered .ngo domain name and OnGood profile chances to win prizes. In May, a panel of judges selected Hope For Limpopo as the grand prize winner for its OnGood profile page which offered powerful insight into their mission – to support programs that provide education and capacity building for children and caregivers living in rural areas of Limpopo Province, South Africa.
