Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital located at Katra in Jammu - an initiative of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board in collaboration with Bangalore headquartered Narayana Health to manage the hospital - was inaugurated on Tuesday, 19th April 2016 by Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi in the august presence of Shri N N Vohra, Governor Jammu & Kashmir and Chairman, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti, Hon'ble Chief Minister - Jammu & Kashmir and Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman - Narayana Health.

The 230 bed tertiary care hospital with hi-tech infrastructure was built by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board at a cost of Rs. 300 crore. The Superspeciality hospital has more than 20 streams of clinical specialities of which Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Cardiac Sciences, Neurosciences, Orthopaedics, Nephrology, Urology, Gastroenterology, Paediatrics, Neonatology and Gynaecology will be centres of excellence offering tertiary care services with 24-hour laboratory, critical care and emergency.
During the inauguration ceremony Dr. Devi Shetty, Chairman - Narayana Health announced 50% concession on the first 100 major surgeries and 10% concession on other procedures for a period of six months. The hospital is currently offering free OPD consultation services for a period of three months as an inaugural offer.
Some of the advanced technology and medical equipment at the hospital include a Linear Accelerator, Brachy Therapy, Gamma Camera, MRI, 128 slice CT scan machine, digital cath lab and modern dialysis units apart from other facilities for diagnostics and treatment.
The hospital has a cafeteria and accommodation facilities for patient visitors and caregivers required to stay at the premises till the patient's recovery process.
The hospital aims to provide the best healthcare facility and services to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and also conduct regular outreach programs and health check-up camps to give access to quality healthcare for people living in remote areas. It will also contribute largely to the economic development of the region.
