The Group provides services globally, directly to researchers and research institutions, and Western scholarly publishers. Current services include research editing services, expert scientific review, medical communications support, research ethics support, and related educational services. Koji Yamashita said, "I am thrilled and honored to lead Edanz and believe in its great potential for growth. With the explosive growth of scientific output from Asia and emerging regions, and the increasing importance of support services for scientists, Edanz is well positioned for the future. Headquartered in Japan, Edanz has built a fantastic reputation for providing high quality services to researchers in China and worldwide markets. I look forward to working with Edanz's exceptional staff in all its global locations."
Koji Yamashita comes to Edanz from SpringerNature where he has been Japan President and Managing Director since 2011, as well as the Regional Sales Director of APAC Springer Healthcare since 2014. Since joining Springer in 2008, Koji has had a strong track record of success, which includes transforming the Japan operation from a traditional regional publishing house to one of Springer's major operating hubs in Asia by divesting the Japanese publishing program and reallocating resources to global publishing and sales activities. Prior to Springer, Koji was the Asia Executive Director of ProQuest, contributing to its establishment and growth of businesses in Japan and Asia. Before ProQuest, Koji was a founder and CEO of KnowledgeWire Inc., the major medical and bioscience copyright clearing agency and consultancy house in Japan.
Kerry Greer said, "Koji Yamashita is an exceptional leader in STM publishing and Medcomms in Asia. He brings to Edanz both his insight into the trends that are reshaping the publishing industry worldwide, and an entrepreneurial energy that will place Edanz at the very center of these changes. I am honored to be able to place the running of Edanz in such capable hands."
David Main, Chairman, said, "The Board welcomes Koji as the new leader of Edanz Group. He provides an outstanding track record in the development of businesses based in Japan and Asia. We look forward to working with Koji to accelerate our growth and take the Group to the next level."
