Mobile Messaging Leader Acision Taps European Regional GM to Head its NA Operations and Former Mavenir Executive to Lead Europe & Russia
READING, England, April 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
In moves aimed at addressing emerging opportunities in the mobile industry, Acision, the global leader in mobile messaging, today announced it has strengthened its management team with two Regional Head appointments. Former Mavenir executive, Glen Murray, has joined Acision as Senior Vice President and General Manager for its Europe and Russia (E&R) region, with Russell Grahame, former Acision E&R Head, taking the Senior Vice President and General Manager at its Acision North American operations.
"With these executive appointments, we are taking steps aimed at accelerating new and exciting opportunities in two key regions for Acision and the mobile industry," said Jorgen Nilsson, Chief Executive at Acision. "The North America, and Europe and Russia regions are home to some to some of the World's leading operators - who are steering the way in the development and delivery of rich, IP-based communications and services, and the launch of new mobile engagement initiatives."
Acision is poised to play a leading industry role as mobile messaging evolves in the years ahead, driven by the profusion of new IP, over-the-top (OTT) and social network messaging services penetrating the industry. Researchers forecast that global mobile messaging revenues could grow to $195.9 billion by 2016, with messaging traffic from these new services likely to double over the next three years. Acision offers a solid portfolio of products and services to help operators adapt to the shifting messaging market and launch new game-changing services.
Grahame will work with the regional team to evolve and build the organization to support Acision's traditional products while creating demand for new, innovative mobile services. Grahame brings broad experience across a number of regions worldwide to this new leadership role in North America. In addition to heading the E&R region for the company since 2010, Grahame held senior sales roles in other leading technology companies, including IBM, BT and HP, as well as for Motorola, where he led the worldwide sales organization based in North America.
Based in Acision's Headquarters in Reading, Murray joins Acision from HMCA Partners, a consultancy he founded to support the establishment of emerging technology companies in the Europe, Middle East and Asia. Prior to this, Murray was Mavenir's Regional VP for EMEA, where he worked to re-focus the sales organization after the acquisition of Airwide. During his tenure at Mavenir, Murray signed major contracts with several large operator groups in Europe. Prior to Mavenir, he held senior global sales roles at Neustar NGM, Anam, Openwave and Netscape.
"We are entering a very exciting period for Acision and the industry at large," said Grahame. "LTE networks with richer messaging services, such as RCS, and new mobile engagement models are taking center stage in North America, and are some of the strategic initiatives we are focusing on. I look forward to working with the team here to not only strengthen our dialogue with customers but ensure they are our connected to our IP Innovation Center in Richmond, while also continuing to build on our leadership role in the mobile ecosystem by delivering new consumer services and engagement models to market."
"Driving the team in E&R, I aim to deliver further growth and development in the region, building on Acision's success and market leading position," said Murray. "I'm especially encouraged by the opportunities we have to enhance our position in richer IP messaging, to drive our Cloud strategy and to increase Acision's relevance with operators and brands as they work to deploy new messaging services."
Acision recently made a number of announcements that support these and other developments in mobile messaging, including the release of new research on consumer messaging behaviours; the launch of global services that support the entire messaging lifecycle; and the availability of Rich Communication Suite (RCS) services as a hosted solution from the Acision Cloud environment. Acision also reaffirmed its partnership with strategic mobile marketing partner Soli International.
