The Lt. Governor interacted with the Dean Dr. Ranjan Banerjee and senior faculty members. He sought to understand the relationship between SPJIMR and Michigan State University (MSU) and how SPJIMR could collaborate further with the State of Michigan to enhance the scope and depth of relationship between Michigan and Maharashtra.
"I'm delighted at the long term relationship between SPJIMR and MSU. The State of Michigan will work with these two educational institutions to see how they can support Michigan companies to invest in India and Indian companies to invest in Michigan," Lt. Governor Calley said.
SPJIMR Dean Dr. Banerjee said the visit was significant and "quite unique because people from the State as well as at the University level are interacting with us."
"This provides the platform and the scope for an Institute to become instrumental in creating a business partnership between Indian companies wanting to go to the USA and the companies from Michigan which want to come to India," he said.
"I think it's a great platform and consistent with what we at SPJIMR say about influencing practice. We are now taking this to another level and enabling industry collaboration by using the Institution as a platform," Dr. Banerjee added.
Prof. Prem Chandrani, Chairperson of International Relations, SPJIMR said: "It is a special honour and privilege for us to have the Lt. Governor visit the SPJIMR campus. The fact that this was the only educational institute that the Lt. Governor and his delegation visited underscores the depth of the relationship that SPJIMR enjoys with Michigan State in general and with MSU in particular. We will work to build and strengthen this relationship and open up new opportunities for collaboration in academics and industry."
SPJIMR has a high level collaboration with the Eli Broad School of Business, Michigan State University, since 2011, to research, teach and facilitate cutting edge management practices. The collaboration works with a three pronged strategy to provide:
