A Successful Transition From Manpower to Job Contracting
Keeping in pace with the changing industrial environment wherein cost, quality and competitiveness is the buzz word, Layam Group announced today a brand new business model that is designed to make any enterprise feasible for its sustainability. Termed as the Job Contract model, it's a customized business model through which Layam will professionally manage industrial projects by engaging unskilled/skilled workforce in operation, maintenance, supply chain and logistics. The current foray into the job contract model began with Tata Power Distribution in Delhi and subsequently extended their service to other industries such as automobiles, manufacturing across India.

The ten-year old HR solutions firm came out with this model, after a thorough understanding of the current industrial scenario and the issues it faced. Layam's research findings on the industry trends and the quality of manpower revealed that there was an immediate requirement to simplify processes and increase productivity. The job contract model addresses this need by taking up the entire work responsibility which includes recruitment, staffing, maintaining quality of workforce, attendance, task completion, productivity and client satisfaction.
"With growth comes great responsibility; while great responsibility is a clear sign of clients' trust on us and trust is a clear sign of merit," says Mr. G.S. Ramesh, Chairman, Layam Group. "We have constantly and seamlessly evolved for over a decade to offer newer solutions to newer problems. The dynamics of human resources are complex to deal with. It's as complex as human beings themselves. The difficulties in managing human resources can lead to loss of productivity, waste of effort, time and money. I am extremely pleased to say that our job contract model successfully tackles all these issues thereby ensuring peace of mind to our clients," he further added.
During the Great Recession in 2008, companies world over hired contract workers in place of regular staff. This new trend led to an emergence of hitherto unseen problems, which required dedicated and concentrated attention to fix. The hangover of the recession left companies with the tendency to hire more contract workers, even after the economy revived. At the same time, certain projects always demand that contract workers be hired. For such projects, operation, maintenance and supply chain management have become key issues.
Mr. Rohet Ramesh, Director, Layam Group, said, "The expectations of companies and businesses have evolved over the years. Most of the companies face difficulties in achieving their goals with mere manpower, they expect another company like us to take care of the entire supply chain management and complete the job. So, that's where a successful job contract comes into play to accomplish the job perfectly. Moreover, contract workers may not enjoy a great sense of belonging to the organization. So, our process begins with orientation programs to introduce them to the organization's mission. Once the contracted workforce understands and aligns with the organization's mission, we make sure that the workforce continues to work with involvement. By also taking care of the attendance, we ensure regularity in productivity by time and person."
