Signature Start Up Masterclass is a celebration of real life success stories and provides a unique platform to passionate individuals who are looking for the right inspiration and guidance, by giving them an opportunity to hear their icons share the story of how they managed to successfully convert their passion into paycheck.
During the Masterclass session, Kunal Kapoor narrated his story of how he decided to choose fund-raising in addition to his acting career. The star's first instance of giving back was at the age of 14, where with the help of his friends he helped his watchman's son buy school books. Before becoming an actor, Kunal worked in the stock market for over a year which gave him good knowledge of business. Eventually, he realised he could use his acting fame to aid social causes. Over the years, Kunal worked with a number of charitable organisations like Save the Children, Akshara Center, Mijwan Welfare Society and with the help of his friends he started Kwan Foundation, which brought individuals from all sectors to support their favorite causes.
Varun Sheth was a financial whizz-kid and after graduating from Narsee Monjee College he began working with ICAP. He was excellent at his job and garnered a fat paycheck for himself, but the monotony of the job got to him and he soon realised that he wants to contribute to the society. He joined the Dasra Social Impact program, a social welfare foundation, and was immensely pleased with what the organisation was doing for the common people and other NGOs. Soon after, he came across Kunal Kapoor and they joined hands to start Ketto.org.
Ketto's concept of crowd funding social causes, creative ventures and careers has been widely accepted. So far, Ketto has raised close to Rs. 30 crore through 10,000 campaigns and they continue to churn out meaningful campaigns.
