Frustrated commuters and confused drivers of Singapore can now turn to a new ride-sharing app. Jugnoo, India's third largest ride-sharing app, has launched in Singapore with a twist. The restrictions imposed by consumer industry watchers have made the Uber-Grab deal face uphill battles, wanting them to retain their pre-transaction pricing and product options for riders and drivers. CCCS also states that the deal makes it hard for new players to enter the market. At this point of dilemma, Jugnoo forays to the market to fill the gap and makes a significant investment in Singapore's ride-hailing market. With latest technology and accessibility, Jugnoo brings back the traditional technique which made the drivers and customers happy.
Jugnoo will enable freelance drivers with commercial driving licences to bid for commuter requests. This is the opposite of how Grab and Uber work. One can enroll on Jugnoo driver app and give the bids for customer trips. The first round of bid will produce a range of competing price bids, depending on driver availability. The commuter is free to pick the lowest price bid and take the ride. For the first six months, Jugnoo is free to start with but after six months, Jugnoo will operate on a commission-based revenue model by charging a 10 percent commission on the ticket size from the drivers and a convenience charge from its customers.
Commenting on the launch, Samar Singla CEO and Founder of Jugnoo said: "We are very excited about our launch in Singapore. We saw a vacuum and analysed the issues currently being faced in the ride-hailing market of Singapore and many other places across the world. At Jugnoo, we believe that an open driver-customer network to offer ride hailing to consumers is a need of the hour across the world."
Jugnoo's primary aspiration has always been to simplify the life of commuters and provide good earnings to the drivers. Samar added, "With the launch of reverse bidding model in Singapore, we aim to optimally leverage the already available large pool of taxi owners. Our expansion in the Singapore ride hailing market will scale up the growth of many stakeholders."
Jugnoo has emerged as the biggest auto-rickshaw aggregation platform and has disrupted the way people commute in India. In 2015, the company started scaling its international operations on an B2B model and now has partners in over 10 countries. Within the next few months, Jugnoo is also enrouting its operations towards Europe.
