Video Quality Pioneer Successfully Completes Industry's First NFV Interoperability Test
MANSFIELD, Massachusetts, Dec. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- IneoQuest Technologies, the global leader in video quality and service assurance solutions, today announced its successful participation in the first Network Function Virtualization (NFV) Interoperability test conducted by the New IP Agency (NIA), Light Reading and EANTC. IneoQuest was the sole analytics and service assurance vendor to participate in this watershed event, marking a major step in the evolution of marketable multi-vendor NFV solutions. The interoperability test represents the culmination of IneoQuest's multi-year research and development focus on solutions which will meet the evolving needs of network operators.

With the advent of new internet-based video distribution models, and the shift of viewers from traditional linear TV to VoD and OTT content, operators require a highly flexible network architecture that can meet the needs of both traditional and online viewing, where viewers can rapidly shift from one screen to another – or use both simultaneously – depending on the content. NFV initiatives promise to offer the ability to set up and tear down network resources based on real time demand. As important as the ability to dynamically allocate network resources is, the real-time intelligence to know where resources are strained and what new resources are required will be critical to successful NFV deployment. IneoQuest recognizes this need, and has been developing the virtualized analytics tools to meet it.
During the course of these tests, IneoQuest demonstrated interoperability between a Network Function Virtualized infrastructure (NFVi) element and virtualized Network Function (VNF) versions of its award-winning video quality solutions. This result was achieved in part due to IneoQuest's collaboration with leading equipment providers to validate solution support for industry leading virtualization platforms. As part of these collaboration initiatives, IneoQuest also pioneered multiple proof-of-concept activities with Intel as part of the Intel® Network Builders initiative. The emerging virtualized solutions have been extensively tested against various Intel-based blade and server platforms.
"When Light Reading sent out the invitation for this interoperability test, we jumped at the opportunity to show what we have been doing in support of NFV evolution," said Calvin Harrison, CEO of IneoQuest. "We could not be more pleased at the results of the testing, which further validates that we are on the right path to provide the pervasive video analytics that will form the essential real-time video feedback loop needed for the future of NFV and SDN video deployments."
Detailed information on test methodologies and findings can be found on Light Reading.
Further details regarding IneoQuest's virtualized solutions will be announced in the first quarter of 2016.
