- Social Venture Project 'Garb-age' Wins Adobe Youth Voices Audience Award
Adobe, as part of its commitment to the next generation of creatives, announced the names of three students as awardees of the 2015 Adobe Creativity Scholarship Awards, viz. Revathi S. from Christel House India, a Bangalore-based non-profit organization , and two students, Shikha Patra and Salim Sheikh, from Prayasam, a Kolkata-based non-profit organization.
Adobe Creativity Scholarship Awards are granted to 25 students every year globally. Under this scholarship, winners are entitled to receive monetary educational support of up to $2,000 per annum for further studies. Scholarships are based on financial need, academic and overall performance and potential of an individual. All the winning scholars must have participated in the global Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) program, which enables young people to harness media-making and storytelling skills to address social issues they care about.
Revathi S. from Christel House, Bangalore, one of the beneficiaries of this scholarship, completed grade 12 this academic year 2014-15 with distinction. Revathi lost her mother when she was in grade 8 and has had a troubled childhood. Revathi's father was an alcoholic and completely indifferent to her wellbeing. She also faced undue pressure from her family to get married at a young age. Inspite of challenging circumstances, Revathi did not give up hope and fought for her right to education.
In Revathi's words, "I value education and my dream is to become a teacher. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have received the 2015 Adobe Creativity Scholarship Award for further studies; because of which I could secure admission in one of the best universities in Karnataka. I am determined to work hard and use every opportunity to excel in my studies. I remain immensely grateful to Adobe for this generous scholarship and my school, Christel House India which nurtured me for the last 12 years and taught me that success is the product of hard work."
