- New and innovative designs to be recognized through a 5-million-yuan prize pool
HANGZHOU, China, Jan. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The inauguration of the Design Intelligence Award, together with the global launch of "Global Discovery - Looking for Good Designs," were announced on January 8, 2016 at the Folk Art Museum, located on the Xiangshan Campus of the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, southeast China. Organized by the China Academy of Art and co-organized by the China Industrial Design Association, the award is a leading international contest jointly developed by world-class design academies and organizations, venture capital firms and financial institutions, as well as media and communication companies with the support of the Zhejiang Provincial Government. The contest aims to identify innovative and revolutionary industrial designs that truly represent a breakthrough in development and progress.

The Design Intelligence Award, which takes into consideration "Oriental Intelligence, Life Wisdom, National Power and Intelligence as well as Innovative Thinking," features a prize worth millions of yuan, hundreds of experts, "intelligent creation" within hundreds of days, a mutli-billion yuan industry, hundreds of media outlets and brands running for hundreds of years. In addition to the 5-million-yuan (approx. US$750,000) prize pool, an individual award of up to 1 million yuan (approx. US$150,000) will be granted. The Design Intelligence Award is designed to boost intelligent manufacturing in China and the creation of transformative designs worthy of being deemed part of the Industry 4.0 era. The award ceremony will take place in May 2016.
