HopOn India Launches Experiences for Kolkata and Banaras
MUMBAI, India, May 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ --
HopOn India is pleased to announce the launch of its digital audio guides for the cities of Kolkata and Banaras. This follows the successful launch of its walks for Mumbai.
Kolkata, once known as the City of Palaces, was not only the first capital of British India but was also India's Cultural Capital. What with the first Indian Nobel Laureate, Rabindranath Tagore, having lived in the city. HopOn India's first two walks of Kolkata cover these two facets of the city. The first walk is through the Dalhousie Square area -home to all the 'Palaces' that the British built. The majestic Raj Bhavan, the GPO building with its imposing dome, which was erected on the spot earlier occupied by the British fort that Siraj-ud-Daulla had ransacked, the red Writers' Buildings going back to 18th century, St John's Church with its tall spire, and many other monuments are located here. The narration covers them all, including the intriguing tales that have made legends of these palaces. The second walk is through the Pathuriaghata area of North Kolkata, where the Tagore family of which the great poet, Rabindranath, was a member resided. The walk passes through both the Pathurighata and Jorasanko areas and covers the palatial homes that the Tagore, Mullick and the Ghoshe families occupied. The walk gives the listener a peek into Bengal's rich cultural heritage.
Both the Dalhousie and Pathurighata walks have been written by journalist and author Soumitra Das, and narrated by the well known scholar and voiceover artiste, Professor Ananda Lal.
HopOn India will soon be launching a sports walk on Kolkata that covers the Maidans, including the Eden Gardens and the stadiums occupied by Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting Clubs. A car tour of Kolkata is also in the pipeline.
Banaras, arguably one of the oldest cities of the world, transports the visitor to an era that is long gone. The city is a celebration of both life and death. HopOn India's walks for Banaras are a tribute to its ghats, gullys, food, and religion. The first walk is through the serene Sarnath area where the Buddha had given his first sermon. As the story of the monuments is being narrated, the listener will walk on the very soil that the Buddha had travelled. A walk along the Ghats of Banaras - we cover almost 40 ghats from Assi to Dashashwamedh - on the banks of the holy Ganga will be launched soon. The listener will get to know how Banaras has embraced Indian culture in its multiplicity. A walk that covers the serpentine gullys of Banaras, and a food walk that will tickle the taste buds of a foodie are in the works.
HopOn India is happy to announce a set of further technological enhancements to its App. The App now has a feature that permits a user to buy city packages at an attractive price and with long duration validity. Do check the deals on the HopOn India App!
