The X-Ray Technician course is a unique model wherein the TATA Trust will financially support the initiative with a Zero Interest Loan to candidates, which is to be repaid only when the candidate secures a job. The GE HealthCare Institute with a network of centres pan India, plans to run this initiative in various parts of the country and train 10,000 people in the field of healthcare.
Present at the event were the alumni of the X-Ray technicians course, Mr. Biswanath Sinha, Associate Director, Tata Trust; Dr. Nitin Thorve, CMD, Nidan Group; Mr. Marut Setia, Head - Professional and Educational Services (GE Healthcare) and representatives from partner organizations - FUEL (Friends Union for Energising Lives), JPC (Jana Pragati Centre), KEF (Kotak Education Foundation) , Magic Bus India and MAVIM (Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal).
The GE HealthCare Institute appreciates industry partners Nidan Group and Suburban for their support and NGO partners like Magic Bus for motivating students.
The alumni, who came from as far as Shahpur, Aurangabad and Ahmedabad, shared their journey to becoming qualified X-Ray technicians and then working at some of the best medical facilities such as - Fortis, Nidan Group, Apollo and Suburban. It was very motivating when young women and mothers shared their learning experiences and how their decisions impacted their family.
To run or even start a venture in the healthcare sector, one needs technical skills, clinical and equipment knowledge and entrepreneurial passion. Two alumnae, one from Aurangabad and another from Ahmedabad did exactly this! They purchased a portable X-ray machine and are now providing services to patients who are bed-ridden and are located in remote areas with inadequate diagnostic facilities.
During the event, GE HealthCare Institute announced the launch of the much awaited CT course. There is a huge demand of trained CT technicians in India.
The function concluded with games for the alumni, a lot of picture memories and promises to excel in the field of healthcare in India.
