The 2nd Global Fashion and Design Week Noida 2018, marked another historical moment when the Indo-Gambia Film and Cultural Forum was created as a part of the main event on the first day at AAFT, Noida.

"We are fully prepared for this event. 40 countries have shown their interest in fashion and design industry. We are sure by the end of the week this will turn out to be one of the biggest Fashion Weeks of the Republic of India," said Sandeep Marwah, President of ICMEI-International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry.
One hundred and sixty established and new designers are participating in the fashion and design week. We are opening seven exhibitions to show case the designs related to garments, jewellery, house hold products, office and restaurant furniture apart from the paintings and sculpture, sketching and photography exhibitions," added Sandeep Marwah.
"Let me take the advantage of this international platform to announce the formation and launching of Indo Gambia Film and Cultural Forum. This association is created to develop and promote relation between two countries India and Gambia," said H.E Jainaba Jagne Ambassador of Gambia to India.
"We are more than satisfied to nominate the renowned international person Sandeep Marwah as the chair of the organization. His magical powers will do wonders to the organization," added H.E. Jainaba Jagne.
The High Commissioner of Malaysia to India H.E. Dato Hidayat Abdul Hamid, renowned beauty queen, Padma Shri Shahnaz Husain, former Miss Universe Teen & AAFT Alumna Srishti Kaur, Mrs India Finalist 2015 Deepti Chibber, Interior Designer Shailender Sharma and Ritu Lal, Director AAFT School of Fashion and Design were witnesses to this historical event in the hall of Marwah Studios.
Relations between The Gambia and India were very limited until 1985, consisting only of a confirmation of their common non-aligned principles and common position on decolonization and North-South issues. Prior to 1985, The Gambia maintained limited diplomatic ties with Asia, primarily focusing on countries such as Taiwan, China, South Korea and North Korea from which it sought aid in exchange for political support.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi visited The Gambia in September 2015 as the Prime Minister's Special Envoy and officially invited the country to participate in the third India Africa Forum Summit (IAFS). Gambian Vice President Isatou Njie-Saidy led the country's delegation to participate in the IAFS in New Delhi on 26-29 October 2015.
