EFY Expo 2015 Kickstarts at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi

One of India's most popular electronics show in terms of business visitors, EFY Expo 2015, organized by EFY Group, kickstarted at Pragati Maidan, Hall 7A - 7H, today. The expo started with the inaugural note by EFY's Executive Chairman Ramesh Chopra, followed by two Vendor Development Seminars.
Highlights of Day 1 were the ELCINA Buyer Seller Meet, the Innovation Zone, the 3D Printers' Zone and the International Exhibitors.
The key speakers at the Vendor Development Session - 1 were Amrit Manwani, Chairman & MD, Sahasra Electronics; Akhilesh Saurikhia, Advisor Gov-Business Advisory Services, Ernst & Young LLP; Brig Sanjay Prasad, Deputy Director General (Indigenisation), DGEME; H K Sharma - Deputy Director General, Supply, DGS&D and Yuvaraj A.R., Addl. General Manager, CMS Division, Bharat Electronics Ltd.
Speakers at the Vendor Development Session - 2 were Paresh Kumar Shah, Supply Chain & Operations Leader - South Asia at GE; Mr. S. Jain, Sr. General Manager - Operations, ENP Asia - Pacific, Emerson Network Power India Pvt Ltd; Sarabjit Singh, General Manager, NTL Electronics and Mr. Karthikeyan, Senior Manager-Sourcing, Flextronics.
During the session the speakers shared a common view on the need of local manufacturers to reduce the lead time to the market.
Mr. Sanjay Jain, Sr. General Manager - Operations, Emerson Network Power India Ltd said, "We have to understand first that the industry wants localisation. 'Make in India' should be taken seriously." He added that companies will still buy Indian products at a price par from the international sellers to cut short the lead time.
Mr. Paresh C. Shah - Supply Chain & Operations Leader, GE Lighting said, "Focus of the lighting industry is on LED and the company is constantly developing energy efficient products. For any supply chain, the biggest thing is the quality house. It starts from the market research and ends at the customer service provided." He added that we need to dance to the customers' tunes and we need to make the pricing such that we can include good quality after sales service provided to the customers.
Sarabjit Singh, General Manger-Materials, NTL Electronics Said, "We hardly have any companies to support electronic components. Very small quantity of PCBs are coming from local manufacturers but we are getting a good support from SMEs." He added that reliability of Indian manufacturers has improved lately.
Yuvaraj A.R., Addl. General Manager, CMS Division, Bharat Electronics Ltd. said, "Main focus should be on core technology as public sectors are looking at SMEs to support long term business goals." He added that various approvals are required to supply to the DPSUs as they develop electronic warfare equipments where each and every component we use is of premium quality. He added, "We would like to improve the indigenous contents."
