The Ecobuild India Knowledge series titled 'Architecture in Transition: The Road to Sustainability' being held on 6th December, 2013, at the Sumant Moolgaonkar Audiotorium, MCCIA, Pune, is an effort by UBM India to bring together the key stakeholders in the built environment, the developer, architect, planner and consultant on a common platform to discuss and help create environment-friendly green buildings and make climate responsive architecture an integral part of the building design process.
The programme to begin at 18.30 hrs will include presentations and an exclusive discussion focusing on the challenges in sustainable design and construction and will look towards providing pragmatic solutions to these issues.
The presentations would be by eminent architects Ar. Prakash Deshmukh and Ar. Iqbal Chaney. Ar. Prakash Deshmukh, the President of the Indian Institute of Architects, is a pioneer in establishing sustainable building projects. He is the principal architect for the widely acclaimed eco-friendly township Magarpatta City near Pune. Ar. Iqbal Chaney, after working abroad on projects in London, has over 600 projects to his credit here, with IIA awards for excellence in design for residential and industrial projects. He has also won the AESA awards for best residential and recreational projects.
The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion with industry veterans including Mr. Hemant Naiknavare, President, CREDAI Pune Metropolitan Region; Ar. Alan Abraham, Jt Principal, Abraham John Architects; Architect and planner Rajiv Raje; Ms. Mala Singh, Executive Committee Member of IGBC and CMD, PEC Solutions, Green Designs Pvt. Ltd, Ar. Prakash Deshmukh, Ar. Iqbal Chaney and Mr. Pratap Jadhav, President Elect IIID, Director Pratap Jadhav & Associates.

The knowledge series organized by Ecobuild India is part of a tri-city seminar series held at Indore on 8th November, Chandigarh on 22nd November and Pune on 6th December. The series will culminate in the final Ecobuild India event on 9th and 10th May, 2014, at the Nehru Centre, Worli, Mumbai.
