MUMBAI, October 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Despite distinct advantages and their critical role, urban centers in India have not been growing in a planned and rational manner. What the industry needs is a platform that can help connect the dots by bringing together key built environment stakeholders - developers, architects, planners, consultants and occupiers to address issues and discuss viable solutions. The Ecobuild Knowledge series titled "Architecture in Transition: The Road to Sustainability" being held on the 8th November, 2013 at Hotel Radisson Blu, Indore is an effort by UBM India to help the industry get effective solutions by understanding these very challenges in sustainable design and constructions.

The Ecobuild Knowledge series at Indore will see presentations on sustainable built environment by eminent architect Karan Grover and architect Sanjay Mohe followed by a panel discussion with renowned industry veterans to include developer Vijay Mirchandani, Director, Mirchandani Group and Chairman CREDAI Indore, Mili Majumdar, Director, Sustainable Habitat Division, The Energy Resources Institute (TERI), international Architect Hans Brouwer, Architect Nitin Saolapurkar - President Institute of Indian Interior Designers, Architect Jitendra Mehta, Chairman, Indian Institute of Architects, MP chapter and Architect Sanjay Mohe. The panel will be moderated by Architect Karan Grover.
Vijay Mirchandani, Director, Mirchandani Group and Honorary National Secretary, CREDAI National and Chairman, CREDAI, Indore, shares, "Most developers think it is difficult and expensive to build sustainable real estate projects, but based on my experience I can say it is only a matter of effort and being conscious about the way the project is built while the cost difference is marginal. I appreciate UBM for organizing the Ecobuild India Knowledge series event which would help create awareness not only for developers but amongst the various stakeholders."
Joji George, Managing Director, UBM India further adds, "The existing built environment in urban India is among the largest contributors to global warming; as most of the buildings have not been able to incorporate a climate responsive and energy efficient architecture. There is an urgent need for orderly planning and sustainable building in our cities. The Ecobuild India knowledge series with Ar. Karan Grover is thus a move by UBM India to bring together key built environment stakeholders to the fore, and to discuss solutions towards creating healthier built environments in the country."
Several countries in the world have achieved the goal of green cities through proactive measures such as out of the box planning, energy conservation, recycling and more importantly by creating sustainable buildings. The Ecobuild Knowledge series at Indore is the first move in this direction to help Indian cities create environment friendly green buildings and make climate responsive architecture an integral part of the building design process.
