Dr. Vijay Govindarajan of Tuck School of Business Leads Strategy Workshop at MYRA School of Business
MYSORE, India, November 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
How to Win With Strategy? Success Today Does not Guarantee Success Tomorrow
MYRA School of Business is organizing a two-day workshop focussed on Strategy. The workshop is scheduled for December 6-7, 2014 at MYRA School of Business, Mysore.
The series of Executive Education Workshops is aimed to take leadership to new heights. Crafting corporate strategy is elegant and a sophisticated process of collecting and analyzing data, generating insights, and identifying a path forward. The company's top leadership buys into a smart presentation and develops a new vision and mission statement. That's where the trouble starts. Execution is no longer smart and clean; it's a minefield of trouble. Strategy is nothing without coherent execution, but how do we get the two aligned? In this intensive and hands-on program for senior executives we outline forward-looking business strategies that drive company success. We show you simple but powerful methods that work. You will return to your organisation with insights and ideas to help you innovate, thrive, and outgrow your competition.

Keynote: Three-Box Thinking - by Dr. Vijay Govindarajan
The three-box thinking model is a framework to facilitate strategic thinking and alignment. The actions companies take belong in one of three boxes: (1) Managing the present (2) Selectively abandoning the past and (3) Creating the future. Many organisations restrict their strategic thinking to Box 1. This tendency has been particularly acute in the past two to three years, as most leaders have emphasised reducing costs and improving margins in their current businesses. But strategy cannot be just about what an organisation needs to do to secure profits for the next year. Strategy must also encompass Box 2 and Box 3. It must be about what a company needs to do to sustain leadership for the next ten years. In fact, the central task of an organisation's leaders is to balance managing the present with creating the future.
Workshop 2: What's your Case? Taking strategic investment decisions - by Dr. Wolfgang Messner
Maximising value for the enterprise, for its shareholders and for its customers is at the core of corporate strategy. Yet, managers continue to pour billions of rupees, dollars, or Euros into strategic initiatives with uncertain outcomes. Many of us feel we are playing roulette with our decisions.
This workshop explains the process of decision making and complex financial calculi in a simple manner that will help you take the right management decisions for your organisation to survive and thrive. You will learn essential analytical skills, refine your decision-making approach, and enhance your strategic investment appraisal expertise.
Workshop 3: Convergence: are you ready for the future of digital strategy? by Dr. Sudhendar H. Rao
Investment in information technology by organisations towards leveraging IT as a driver of organisational excellence has evolved over time. Starting from stand-alone functional applications, it has moved on to enterprise applications to the current focus on e-business and e-commerce including social media. Presently, it is imperative to evolve a digital strategy to ensure convergence and integration of the various IT investments in order to realise the promise of IT.
This workshop provides a primer on the key components of the current IT landscape and suggests approaches towards developing such a strategy.
Workshop 4: How do you make data work for you? - by Dr. Abhinanda Sarkar
Data is a currency of the 21st century business; in the opinion of some, the currency. From a strategy perspective, what roles can data play? First, data can provide clearer insight into both the internal operations as well as the external environment of the company (think of competitors, customers, and suppliers). Second, data can itself be part of a company's strategy. Taking advantage of digitisation and the advent of 'big data', innovative methods of extracting value from data are being executed in many industries, including yours.
This workshop gives an interactive tour of this emerging data landscape and what it means for strategy and competitive advantage.
