At the end of Round 3, DPS Gurgaon, P.S. Senior (Chennai) and Bal Bharati (Noida) staked their claim to become the Top Math School in India.
Formulated as a series of monthly competitions held online in a rapid-fire format, Clash of Pi collaborates with school principals and curriculum heads to bring together the country's best mathematics talent to compete head-to-head. The national level series hosted by Singapore-based Online Mathematics program, piCirql, has successfully conducted the contest for two years running. Designed to test speed, accuracy and logical thinking on the lines of most standardized tests in the world, Clash of Pi brings the best talent to a common platform to showcase their mathematics skills.
More than 250,000 questions were answered in the two-day event that saw participation from schools spanning the length and breadth of India. Rounding off the Top 5 mathematics schools in the country were Don Bosco Siliguri and Bal Bharati (Dwarka).
Notable among the new entrants were Deens Academy Whitefield (from South Zone), St. Kabir School, Ahmedabad (West Zone) and Bal Bharati, Dwarka (North Zone), whose school team members logged high-level performances in their first foray into the contest.
Using technology as an enabler, Clash of Pi has successfully gamified mathematics for a key demographic. The national level contest has generated significant buzz in an otherwise solitary area of learning. Infusing competition, benchmarking and fun, the rapid-fire format combines mathematics rigour, speed and accuracy to encourage students to excel at Math.
School administrators as well as students have been extremely enthusiastic in their support for a new medium that channels mathematics learning in a peer-to-peer environment. The contest has built a permanent place on the school calendar among the nation's leading schools where mathematics is not just a subject, but a priority.
"The contest was a very enriching and interactive one. I found the questions to be ones where a lot of analytical approach had to be taken up to solve the questions at a steady pace in the given time limit. It was great fun participating in the event and I hope to do well in the remaining tests," says Mrigrank Singh, a ninth grader from National Public School (HSR Layout), Bangalore.
With the current series due to end in March 2018, school teams have 2 more chances to catapult their teams to the top of the leaderboard and to earn the title of TOP MATH SCHOOL in the country.
