CPF Receives the "ProSustain" Certificate to Ensure Sustainable Production
BANGKOK, Oct. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CPF) has been certified the "ProSustain" standard for 700 chicken products making its all processing plants ensure production sustainability through its supply chain as well as the world's first company for the certification.
Mr. Prasit Boondoungprasert, Executive Vice President, Domestic and International Trade Business, Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CPF), stated that the certificate will ensure the company's products contribute to comfort and well-being of people. In addition, a wide range of environmental, social and economic impacts result from raw material harvesting and the manufacture, supply, use and disposal of products. Awareness of those impacts is rising among buyers, communities, policy-makers and organizations.
"Product sustainability is becoming an increasingly important driver for successful products and company. As responsible organization, we have to adopt and demonstrate how we address those risks and opportunities, ensure compliance with relevant requirements and continually improve the performance of our products through the supply chain," Mr. Prasit said, adding that traceability is also essential for effective supply chain management as well as supporting credible claims regarding the sustainability performance of products.
The ProSustain certificate will be granted today (Oct. 14, 2015) by DNV GL, which is one of the world's leading certification bodies, to assure the performance of their organizations, products, people, facilities and supply chains, when CPF is attending the international food & beverage Anuga 2015 trade forum held from October 10-14, 2015 in Cologne, Germany. More than 700 products SKUs of poultry have been certified this year. In addition, this will also make CPF's all five processing plants granted with the "ProSustain" standard.
The accolade means CPF is the world's first chicken producer who has continued to receive the Product Sustainability certificate since 2013. Participating in Anuga is also the great platform for CPF to inform food & beverage traders and businesses from all over the world of its business philosophy, which is based on three pillars of "secured food, self-dependent society and lasting soil, water and forest." By seriously and transparently pursuing these three pillars, CPF was selected by Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) in September to be part of the DJSI Emerging Markets Index, which consist of top emerging-market sustainability business leaders. The move helps fortifying its confidence to fulfill the company's mission as the "sustainable kitchen of the world," stressed Mr. Prasit.
The ProSustain certificate underlines CPF food development and production processes that aim at quality and safety for our consumers throughout the entire production chain based mainly on social and environmental sustainability management. The happy occasion is also aligning with the theme of "Lead the Way to Sustainability" at CPF's booth that the firm proudly communicates with traders attending the trade fair. The idea is to showcase CPF's world-class food production excellence that strives to produce safe and high-quality food on the basis of sustainable development and accountability throughout its production chain.
The Anuga 2015 forum is also a spot to let the world experience CPF's status as the "Kitchen of the World" thanks to the company's ability to develop and produce a variety of foods that are not only premium-quality but also excellent in taste and rich in nutrition. Participants at the Anuga 2015 trade fair will have an opportunity to witness live cooking sessions using "CP" food products in a variety of western and oriental dishes by a Michelin Star chef.
"With this, we will be able to apply and enhance the quality of our CPF products to strengthen the world's food security and to sustainably nurture our environment," Mr. Prasit insisted.
