BANGALORE, September 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Feed is a major cost factor in poultry production. The cost of feed price has risen due to increase in feed grains and this is hurting the industry's profitability. In recent months, maize prices have shot up to Rs. 15 per kg from Rs. 11 per kg. Similarly, price of soya has risen to Rs. 50 per kg from Rs. 31 per kg. Rising feed prices are the poultry industry's biggest challenge and poultry feed formulators and nutritionists have been making maximum efforts to sustain the increasing feed cost.

Bangalore based application research and formulation company, Bionova, has invented Nevipro - a unique bio-molecular formulation - that is made to improve the protein digestibility in birds. With the usage of Nevipro in the feed, feed manufacturers will be now able to reduce the feed cost up to Rs. 100 per ton of feed.
"Bionova has been manufacturing such unique range of formulations for the poultry industry for the past 10 years and Nevipro is one such recent development," says Mr. Suddhir Jain, managing director, Bionova.
The presence of high levels of anti-nutritional factors in soya and maize (like trypsin inhibitors, protease inhibitors, tannins, pectins, phytic acid etc.) causes substantial reductions in protein and amino acid digestibility (up to 50%) in poultry. The bio-molecular actives in Nevipro will help in increasing the bio-availability of protein and amino acid during the process of digestion. It sets the right gut environment that leads to optimum absorption of the available nutrients.
The company has actively conducted several commercial trials and the product is now available in the market through its distribution channels all over the southern states of the country.
The poultry industry has been suffering from many challenges in the last few years. The egg and chicken prices below Rs. 4 per piece and Rs. 80 per kg respectively are unfeasible for farmers. A number of vendors from the unorganised sector have shut due to profitability issues. Eventually many more may follow if the price does not recover. Under such circumstances this new innovation of Bionova can bring in small but appreciable hope for the poultry feed manufacturers.
