Apex Professional University Hosts its First Convocation on International Students Day

Apex Professional University (APU), Arunachal Pradesh, witnessed a landmark celebration of its First Convocation on Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's birthday declared as an International Students' Day on October 15, 2017 at Pasighat with tree plantation and lighting of lamp. The convocation began with the reverberating sound of conch shell and was declared open by Acharya Dhanwaant Singh, Founder & Chancellor of APU after the National Anthem.
Conferral of Degrees and awarding of scholastic medals for achieving academic excellence was done at the APU Convocation event. On the occasion, APU also conferred honorary doctorate on Sardar Suneet Singh Tuli, CEO and President, Datawind, Canada and Creator of Akash Tablet for Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
The Convocation ceremony began with the welcome speech and academic report by Prof. Dr. A. A. Dange, Vice Chancellor, APU. In this report, the Vice Chancellor emphasised the development of the APU in the past years, both on academic and administrative fronts. He mentioned that more than 65% APU faculty memebers are Ph.D. Degree holders and the University maintains an international level of student-teacher ratio of 1:6. The Vice Chancellor also emphasised on the unique teaching methodology of the university, which is a blend of Bloom Taxonomy and Gurukul tradition.
Addressing the gathering, Sardar Suneet Singh Tuli, CEO and President, Datawind, Canada, shared success sutras with students and said, "It is important to encourage innovations and the young talent pool of this country must strive to develop new applications for public services." He appreciated and admired APU's stellar work in various fields, particularly technology-based gurukul education system.
Dr. J. S. Patil, Vice Chancellor, National Law University, Assam, said, "The reputation of the university is shaped by the manner in which its students behave and conduct themselves. The students have the power to make or break the reputation of a new institution." He appreciated APU on the outreach program of the university and acknowledged the important role that the university demonstrates in vocational training and education.
Dr. Joram Begi, State Chief Information Commissioner, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, as the Chief Guest of the Convocation said that the top 10 universities in the world are only private universities and he appreciated the role of APU as a state private university for their contribution in building up as one of the fastest-growing university in a very short span of time in North East India. According to Dr. Begi, Arunachal Pradesh is now home to a host of reputed educational institutions like a NEIRST, NIT, RGU, CAU-CHF, NEIFM, and APU is a new addition in the educational firmament of the state.
Acharya Dhanwaant Singh, Founder & Chancellor of the APU, congratulated the students and wished them success in building their future careers and serving the state and nation. He motivated the students, saying the students should do ordinary things in an extraordinary way. He emphasised the need to serve the country and humanity by bringing out the best in oneself through strong determination and high goals. He also encouraged the students to pay back the society in the form of dividends by using their gained knowledge and skills to help those who are weak, needy and deprived.
Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Shri Ninong Ering, was also present during the convocation along with Mr. Tatdo Borang, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, District East Siang; Dr. A.K. Pandey, Dean, CHF, Central Agriculture University, Pasighat; Col. Manoj Kumar Khare, Chief Engineer GREF; Mr. A.P. Singh, CO, Indian Air Force and Dr. Yater Ringu Darang, Chief Medical Officer of the Pasighat General Hospital.
APU campus was a scene of festivities and happy faces and emotional moments with farewell parties, group photos, selfies and celebrations adding to the mood. Family members exchanged notes of success of their wards and immensely enjoyed the convocation ceremony. Although the convocation happened on a day that saw rain and cloudy skies, the event ended with a ray of hope and joy that is sure to inspire the students and faculty of this university in the years ahead.
