TEL AVIV, Israel, Feb. 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Startup Nation Central, a nonprofit organization that promotes the Israeli innovation ecosystem globally, and GrowingIL, Israel's AgTech community has released the Israeli Agriculture & Food Tech landscape map, celebrating Israel's innovation and transformative impact in Agri-Food Tech. This sector is central to Israel's innovation legacy, built on a strong scientific foundation and a history of agricultural breakthroughs. Curated from Startup Nation Central's Finder business platform, this map features over 150 startups out of over 750 companies, offering a rich entry point for exploring Israel's innovation landscape, and highlights the most impactful startups in the sector, showcasing those that secured the largest funding rounds in 2024.

Despite global economic challenges and regional instability, 2024 was a year of dynamic partnerships, strategic acquisitions, and technological advancements in Israeli agrifood-tech. Investment remained strong, with 33 funding rounds exceeding $1 million, and more than 30% of all investments directed toward robotics and farm equipment startups, a sector that continues to demonstrate strong growth potential.

Strategic partnerships with multinational corporations played a key role in the sector's resilience, as major global players collaborated with Israeli startups to integrate advanced agritech and food solutions into their supply chains. Robotics, in particular, emerged as a critical solution to agricultural labor shortages, with new funding and partnerships accelerating the development of automation and precision agriculture technologies.

Israeli agrifood-tech startups are playing a pivotal role in broader emerging innovation areas, driving advancements that extend beyond agriculture and food into health, sustainability, and energy.

  • Precision Nutrition for Chronic Disease Prevention – AI-powered dietary solutions and functional foods are being developed to combat chronic illnesses like diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases, signaling a shift toward personalized nutrition and preventative healthcare.
  • AgriTech and Clean Energy – Israeli startups are pioneering solar-powered irrigation systems and carbon-sequestering crops, contributing to the global sustainability movement by reducing agriculture's environmental footprint.
  • Synthetic Biology and Cellular Agriculture – Lab-grown meat, engineered microalgae, and alternative proteins are disrupting traditional food supply chains, helping address food security and land conservation challenges.
  • Bioconversion and Upcycling – Startups are developing biotech solutions to transform agricultural waste into high-value products like protein powders, biofertilizers, and biofuels, reinforcing the importance of circular economy practices.

The Israeli agrifood-tech sector continues to thrive, proving its resilience through collaboration, investment, and technological breakthroughs. As multinationals and investors deepen their engagement in the ecosystem, 2025 is set to be another year of innovation and growth, with Israel reinforcing its position as a global leader in agrifood-tech solutions.
