Donation in partnership with Suriana Welfare Society Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, April 18, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Heavy flooding in Johor has led USANA Malaysia to donate MYR 40,000 in relief funds for those affected by this natural disaster. Beyond this donation, the company and its Associates have also partnered with the Suriana Welfare Society to help with cleanup, pack goods, and deliver mattresses to 50 households in Yong Peng, Johor.
With a population of 4 million, Johor (Malaysia's second-most populous state) was hit the hardest by flooding this past March. At least four people were killed and tens of thousands have been displaced from their homes.
"When the flooding started in Johor, we knew we had to do whatever we could to help those in our community," says Sabrina Khoo, general manager of Malaysia. "I am so proud to work for a company like USANA that's always willing to step up and do the right thing. I would also like to thank the Suriana Welfare Society for their partnership and assistance in delivering this aid."
The Suriana Welfare Society is a registered non-government organization (NGO) that focuses on "promoting and protecting the rights of children in crisis" along with addressing "social issues involving disadvantaged children and their families."
"We are all deeply devastated by the flooding that's affected Johor, Malaysia this year," says Vivienne Lee, regional vice president of Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Hong Kong. "Community is one of USANA's core values, and I believe it's our duty to assist those in need around us. It was great to see our company and Associates come together to bring monetary funds and other necessities to the victims. Our hearts are with everyone in Johor at this time."
