SINGAPORE, July 11, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- In a significant development for the EV industry, Quantum Mobility, a 2-wheeler start-up has received its first fleet of electric motorcycles in the shores of Singapore. The arrival of these eco-friendly vehicles marks a significant step forward in Quantum Mobility's efforts to accelerate the adoption of electric motorcycles, promote sustainable transportation and reduce carbon emissions.
Singapore's Land Transport Authority, known for its stringent safety standards has approved the G2 Quantum electric motorcycles for Singapore roads. With the country's strong commitment to environmental sustainability, Singapore has been actively promoting the adoption of electric vehicles. The arrival of Quantum Mobility's electric motorcycles aligns with the government's initiatives to encourage cleaner transportation options and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
Co-founder and COO of Quantum Mobility, Anders Quek shared that the electric motorcycles feature state-of-the-art technology, combining sleek design with high reliability and safe riding capabilities. He added that these vehicles are equipped with 3000w electric motor, multi-mode riding options, reverse gear, and many other features that will offer the rider smooth acceleration and a comfortable riding experience.
With a range of 90km and with a 2-hour charge time, the rider is able to charge up the motorcycle at various Type 2- AC charge stations across the island. With zero tailpipe emissions, the G2 Quantum offers an environmentally friendly alternative to 140,000 traditional gasoline-powered motorcycles in Singapore.
To provide more charging options to the riders, Quantum Volts, a sister company of the incumbent is set to take the lead and deploy charge and swap infrastructure across the island. This will ensure fleet owners and consumers alike, have easy access to power their electric motorcycles continuously. In working with national power grid infrastructure owners, Quantum Volts's CEO, Lawrence Oei, reaffirms his focus on addressing the national electrification agenda, in delivering a multi-modal charge infrastructure that is jointly developed with Honda, Yamaha, and Piaggio, introducing universality to the proven concept of battery swap technologies.
"The inclusion of Quantum Volts charge infrastructure to be empowered by the sun, has perhaps, been the boldest move of the company, and we are proud to be recognized as a Singapore brand that can play her part in fulfilling the Singapore Green Plan 2030 agenda."
In February 2023, Quantum Mobility also signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with ComfortDelgro Driving Centre (CDC) to advocate safe riding for electric motorcycles in Singapore. Moving forward, new owners of the G2 Quantum electric motorcycle will be able to attend the Electric Motorcycle Familiarization course conducted by CDC.
In a statement by Mr. Edmund Lim, Co-Founder and CEO of Quantum Mobility, he expressed his enthusiasm about the company's entry into the Singaporean market. He said, "We are delighted to introduce our electric motorcycles that suit both the lifestyle seeker and the commercial rider here. Quantum Mobility is committed to providing sustainable mobility solutions that not only benefit the environment but also enhance the overall riding experience. We believe these motorcycles will be well-received by Singaporeans who value both style and sustainability."
The company intends to launch its sales in August through road shows and through specific online channels.
