Sunway Medical Centre is Malaysia's leading hospital in paediatrics, according to Best Specialized Hospitals Asia Pacific Newsweek rankings
The hospital also ranks highly in the areas of Oncology, Neurology and Cardiology
SUBANG JAYA, Malaysia, June 7, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Sunway Medical Centre (SMC), Sunway City, the flagship quaternary hospital under the Sunway Healthcare Group, ranked the top for paediatrics in Malaysia, in the Best Specialized Hospitals Asia Pacific Newsweek 2023 rankings.
SMC ranks at 28 for paediatrics within Asia Pacific, and is also ranked within the top 75 hospitals in Neurology, Cardiology and Oncology.
"This ranking is an assurance for us that we are going in the right direction especially with regards to our paediatric services. We have just opened Tower D and Tower E that houses our Children and Women's centres of excellence, and also the country's first dedicated Children's Accident and Emergency Centre among private hospitals. This one-stop centre that caters to the healthcare needs of infants, children and adolescents is supported by nearly 40 paediatricians in 22 paediatric subspecialties," said President of Sunway Healthcare Group, Dato' Lau Beng Long.
With 724 licensed beds, SMC is the biggest private quaternary hospital to date in the country.
Previously having published the World's Best Hospitals rankings for several years, this is the first year Newsweek has introduced such a ranking for Asia Pacific.
Newsweek and Statista invited more than 8,000 medical experts – including doctors, hospital managers and other health care professionals (e.g. nurses) – to participate in online surveys that allowed them to recommend and assess various hospitals within their respective specializations.
The Best Specialized Hospitals Asia Pacific 2023 ranking identifies and honours the very best hospitals in the Asia-Pacific region that specialise in Cardiology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopedics and Paediatrics. The award recognizes the best hospitals across nine countries and regions: Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand.
