HONG KONG, Sept. 8, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- As the Mid-Autumn Festival draws near, Temple Mall proudly presents the Mid-Autumn Bunny Fiesta promotional event from 8 September to 6 October. Shoppers are invited to explore the mall's iconic photo spots, highlighted by the debut of a giant 4-metre-tall moon rabbit lantern. Step inside this lunar spectacle and get ready to take some memorable photos that capture the essence of this festival – a reunion under the moon. To step up the festive experience, the mall will organise bunny lantern workshops, and on select dates, Master Ouyang Bingzhi, the esteemed proprietor and head craftsman of legendary papercraft shop Bo Wah Effigies, will grace the mall, sharing the art of crafting traditional rabbit lanterns – a cherished Chinese tradition. This is a Mid-Autumn celebration not to be missed!
Evoking childhood memories with traditional cellophane paper lanterns
Mid-Autumn Festival is incomplete without an array of lanterns. During the festivities, Temple Mall North's atrium proudly showcases a magnificent moon rabbit lantern, standing over 4 metres tall, designed in homage to traditional handcrafted paper lanterns. Its vibrant colours not only stir childhood nostalgia but also symbolise family reunions and universal happiness. Meanwhile, Temple Mall South's ground floor features a dazzling moon rabbit lantern photo spot. Lunar rabbit decorations pepper various corners, immersing all visitors in the rich spirit of Mid-Autumn.
Bunny lantern workshop: sharing the joy of the festival
From now until 29 September, the mall is set to host a Bunny Lantern Workshop every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Link Up members who spend a specified amount during the promotion can join the workshop once, where they can create a colourful rabbit lantern to celebrate the festivities. On 23 September, the mall has the distinct honour of welcoming Master Ouyang Bingzhi, the second-generation proprietor of the 60-year-old renowned Hong Kong shop Bo Wah Effigies. As a special instructor, he will personally teach the art and technique behind crafting these traditional rabbit lanterns, ensuring the continuation of this treasured Chinese cultural craft.
"The rabbit lantern is a highly emblematic traditional craft of the Mid-Autumn Festival and holds collective memories for many," Master Ouyang Bingzhi said. "This workshop aims to offer young people and children a hands-on experience in the lantern-making process, allowing them to relish its charm. Creating their very own lantern is bound to instil a profound sense of pride and achievement." Upon completion, participants can take home their meticulously crafted lanterns, allowing them to celebrate the joyous festival with a personal touch.
