IMAX China Races to Biggest Foreign Film Opening This Year As Fast X Scores $8.3 Million
Fast X Delivers Biggest IMAX Single Day this year after CNY on May 20th

SHANGHAI, May 22, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- IMAX China (HKSE:1970) sped to a blazing start for the 2023 summer box office season with the strong debut of Universal's Fast X, which delivered $8.3 million in its five-day opening across IMAX screens in China. The latest "Fast & Furious" epic drove IMAX China to its biggest opening weekend for a foreign film this year and a franchise best 11% of Fast X's opening gross in China on only 1% of overall screens.
The opening Saturday also coincided with May 20, the popular internet Valentine's Dayin China. With the "520 Festival Effect", Fast X delivered $2.6 million on Saturday in IMAX, scoring IMAX's biggest single box office day in China this year after the Chinese New Year. 9 out of 10 top locations during the opening weekend were IMAX theaters.

Fast X will continue its positive momentum on IMAX screens in China and be followed by "The Little Mermaid"(May 26), "The Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse"(June 2), "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts"(June 9), "The Flash"(June 16) and "Lost in the Stars" (June 22).
