Ideathon Takes Competition beyond Taiwan and Calls for Creative Ideas from around the World
TAIPEI, June 1, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Ideathon is founded by Taiwan's Ministry of Digital Affairs (moda) and the competition enters second edition this year. To follow up on last year's theme of "WeWe Futures: 2040 Plurality," this year's competition is themed "WeWe Futures: 2040 Diversity & Inclusion," which not only echoes the spirit of the first edition, but also expands the scope to include social diversity, inviting the public to jointly imagine a future of limitless possibilities where anyone and everyone can live in harmony with and be friendly accepted and included in any lifestyle, generation, nationality, community, and environment.
Japan-Taiwan Design Exchange Consolidates Asian Creative Energy
The "2023 International Call for Ideathon" set off from Taiwan for an Asian tour. In May, we visited Bangkok in Thailand and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, and hosted call for submissions activities and Future Scenario Workshops at the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC), and Malaysia Institute of Architects (PAM), attracting creative minds of different occupations coming from different places and experts and scholars in various domains to participate and exchange.
This time, we are coming to Japan, a leading design country in Asia, for the final stop of the promotion. Japan has always been a place of high creative energy and rich design resources. Same as Taiwan, it has strived for the development of the creative industry. Due to geopolitical factors, design communities in Japan and Taiwan have frequently and closely interacted, and this is why we have chosen Osaka as the final stop of the 2023 International Call for Ideathon Tour, which is both iconic and symbolic as we look to gather the creative energy of Asia.
Overcoming Language Barriers with Digital Tools for a Collective Imagination of Future
On 6/5 (Monday), we will host the "2023 International Call for Ideathon" at Mebic, Osaka. Planned and organized by Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI), the event will make special arrangement for a digital tools workshop in addition to the call for submissions, inviting Ms. Jill Chen, Chief of Design Research & Development Section, TDRI, to serve as the lecturer and share with everyone living in the digital age how to follow the global trend and take advantage of digital tools for refinement and realization of design. By introducing the tools TDRI is currently developing, as well as its future plans, we look forward to inviting all sectors to participate in the event and jointly spark more opportunities for interdisciplinary innovative applications.
This event extends invitation to all world citizens, and will be live-streamed on the official Ideathon Youtube channel. Let's engage in more direct and closer creative exchange between Taiwan and Japan both online and offline. We welcome those with unlimited imaginations for the future and design professionals to attend the physical event, jointly imagining the future in 2040.
