SINGAPORE, Sept. 15, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- The Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2023 is pleased to honor 30 outstanding business leaders and enterprises for championing sustainable and responsible business practices. Presented by leading regional NGO Enterprise Asia, the AREA is the most reputable award recognition program recognizing organizational efforts in creating a culture of compassion, integrity, and in being socially responsible corporate citizens. The AREA serves as a badge of excellence to spur further innovation and best-practice sharing for organizations and the world at large.
The Qisda Corporation (Qisda) was among the recipients who were conferred with the Green Leadership and Corporate Sustainability Awards. Qisda was founded in 1984 and is headquartered in Taiwan. It operates in the fields of information and communication technology, healthcare, smart solutions, and 5G network connectivity.
For its Green Leadership award, Qisda's "Deepening Earth-Friendly Green Products" project, also known as "Green Design 555", measures the environmental impact of the company's products at the design stage, aiming to reduce environmental harm and enhance the products' sustainable value. By providing customers with more sustainable product services, this initiative also helps lower operational costs through energy savings and waste reduction.
"Green Design 555" seeks to achieve a yearly 5% energy savings, 5% waste reduction, and 5% carbon reduction in product manufacturing. This gradual decrease in carbon emissions helps mitigate the impact of climate change. Qisda incorporates green design elements into its product research and development, establishing management systems and a carbon management platform aligned with IEC 62430 and ISO 14006.
Qisda has obtained declarations of conformity for IEC 62430 and ISO 14006, covering a significant portion of its product lines, including multifunctional displays, general displays, projectors, and more. Energy savings, waste reduction, and carbon reduction are the goals of Qisda's green product designs. These new products have also achieved energy efficiency improvements, total weight reduction, packaging volume reduction, mechanism weight reduction, optimized Crtl BD design, and carbon reduction which all serve as performance indicators.
In 2022, Qisda also achieved significant improvements in its green products performances compared to 2021, with energy savings of 42.32%, waste reduction of 38.95%, and carbon reduction of 45.47%.
For its Corporate Sustainability Reporting Award, Qisda follows the value creation process, Qisda invests in the six capitals, which are "finance", "manufacturing", "intelligence", "humanresources", "social", and "natural", as the foundation for its sustainable development. The company engages with stakeholders to identify significant issues and areas of focus.
Qisda responds to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals through five dimensions of sustainable management, which are financial performance, social responsibility, green products, green operations, and a green supply chain. In addition to defining its transformation direction, Qisda incorporates its subsidiaries into the strategic planning for sustainable development, aiming to amplify the impact of its overall fleet.
To ensure effective communication with stakeholders during the planning and decision-making processes of its corporate sustainability development, Qisda adheres to the AA1000APS Principle Standard, which encompasses inclusivity, materiality, responsiveness, and impact.
In the future, Qisda will cultivate green talents and hold awareness courses starting from the research and development until the end of the product's lifecycle, building a complete green design framework. Senior R&D personnel will participate in specialized courses tailored to their needs, enhancing their knowledge and skills in areas such as international standards, product lifecycle, and product disassembly analysis.
For management-level employees, green management courses will be provided to enhance their understanding of the latest management strategies and identify areas for environmental improvement, enabling the formulation of more suitable and sustainable management policies.
