Encouraging Young Generation to Express their Visions of the Future Development of the Northern Metropolis
HONG KONG, Sept. 5, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Organised by China Resources Land (Overseas) Limited, 'Building with Imaginations, Envisioning the Future' Young Professional Design Award ("the Design Award") is officially open for registration commencing 5 September 2023. A Launch Ceremony was held to kick off the event with the presence of guests of honour to call for creative and innovative ideas generated by the participants.
During the ceremony, the Vice President of China Resources Land Limited and Chairman of China Resources Land (Overseas) Limited, Mr. Jack CHANG Ying said, "As an Asia's World City under "One Country, Two Systems", Hong Kong has always been a creative city that strives for innovations, with distinctive advantages of enjoying strong support of the motherland and being closely connected to the world. With the theme of "Developing the Northern Metropolis", the launching of the Design Award implied our hope for the next generation and it is also a call for exploring the future development of the city. The Northern Metropolis will be a priority for the Hong Kong's urban development, we wish young people can unleash their creativity to provide design concepts for a vibrant and thriving Northern Metropolis."
The Design Award aims to promote the development and exchange of young professionals and talents between Hong Kong and mainland China, inspire them to generate innovative ideas through their works, and create liveable, business-friendly, and recreational urban spaces for the Northern Metropolis. While AD+RG Architecture Design and Research Group Limited serves as the consultant, the Design Award is also fully supported by reputable organisations in the industry, including The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), The Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects (HKILA), The Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP), Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design (HKIUD), School of Architecture, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, The City University of Hong Kong, Department of Architecture, Hong Kong Chu Hai College and Faculty of Architecture, The University of Hong Kong. The Design Award is not just a notable event with high recognition, it also provides participants with opportunities for in-depth exchanges with industry professionals.

The Design Award consists of two categories, Professional Group and Elite Group. For Professional Group, the design team shall consist of member(s) from at least one professional institute (HKIA, HKILA, HKIP and HKIUD). The number of design team members is not limited and individual entry is accepted. The first prize includes a cash cheque and a sponsored 5-day study trip in Greater Bay Area of total value of HKD220,000.
For Elite Group, the design team shall consist of member(s) who is/are a full-time, part-time student(s) or a graduate of the universities or post-secondary colleges in Hong Kong. The number of design team members is not limited and individual entry is accepted. The first prize will be a cash cheque of value HKD30,000. The Design Award does not only serve as a platform in collecting young people's vision and ideas on the future of Hong Kong and the urban planning and design of the Northern Metropolis, it also invites young talents in Hong Kong to get involved in the overall development of the Greater Bay Area and the motherland.
To provide the participants a better understanding of the theme and judging criteria of the Design Award, a Sharing Seminar will be held on 19 September 2023. Representatives of the jury panel will share their unique insights and suggestions on urban construction of the Northern Metropolis with in-depth case study. Participants can deepen their understanding of the development and planning of the Northern Metropolis, understand the challenges facing by modern urban development, and learn how to formulate development strategies to address problems, thereby gaining more concrete ideas for the Award.
Qualified professionals, graduates and students of the universities or post-secondary colleges who are aged 18 or above and 45 or below are welcomed to join the Design Award and no enrollment fee is required.
