Zynx Health Names Mark Long Chief Technology Officer
NEW YORK, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Hearst Business Media, a unit of Hearst Corporation, announced today that it has named Mark Long, Ph.D., chief technology officer for the Group's Zynx Health subsidiary.

In his role, Long will lead Zynx's technology innovation, strategy and execution. He will be responsible for the research, design, development and delivery of new and existing applications and the integration of Zynx clinical decision support with leading electronic health record systems. These innovations will serve the global community of Zynx Health clients, representing more than 1,700 hospitals in the United States in addition to a growing global client base. Long will be based in Zynx's Los Angeles office.

Prior to joining Hearst, Long served as the chief technology officer at PortBlue Corporation, where he developed a patented decision support platform that was used for more than 80 software-as-a-service applications, many in the healthcare sector. Previously, Long led technology at PayMyBills.com from an early-stage prototype through processing $1 million a day. PayMyBills, an Idealab company, was an early player in the online banking space and won numerous "Best of Web" awards from Yahoo!, Forbes, Kiplinger and Time Digital.
Long's early career was involved in research and development at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where he specialized in algorithms, distributed software, robotics and control systems for ground-based control of robotic systems on orbit and for planetary exploration. He was active in the research community, authoring more than 30 technical articles and NASA Tech Briefs. Among several awards for technical innovation, he received the Space Station Freedom Award of Merit.
Long holds a Ph.D. from California Institute of Technology, an M.S. from Stanford University and a bachelor's from Lehigh University.
