Zinfandel Advocates and Producers ZAP App is Live and FREE!
New App Makes the World of Zinfandel Wine and Producers Mobile - And describes, scores, and stores all varietal favorites in personal database
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 4, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The Association of Zinfandel Advocates (ZAP), a nonprofit dedicated to advancing public knowledge of and appreciation for American Zinfandel and its unique place in our culture and history, just unveiled its first version of the ZAP App. Zinfandel fans can now download the FREE ZAP App on iPhones, iPods and iPads.
The ZAP App cross-references ZAP's member wineries, educates tasters, helps them score wines, and organizes their favorites in a personal portable data base. Best of all, the app is user friendly at any varietal wine festival, allowing the user to keep a running data base of favorite wines year round.
In addition, the ZAP App is designed to work without 3G coverage, whether that's wine tasting in rural Sonoma County, or deep in a convention center. For travelers exploring the world of Zinfandel, the ZAP App can easily locate, call, email, or visit member websites and plan wine tour itineraries on the go. The app makes it easy to find out whether the vintner has a tasting room before roaming the back roads of Sonoma, saving time on the road between wineries.
Unique ZAP App features:
* The Zinfandel Aroma Wheel helps to identify and classify unique aromas while tasting. Simply rotate the wheel to locate the right one! From nutty to woody, fruity to spicy, the wheel helps describe the underlying elements contributing to the aroma in the wine.
* Wine Scoring helps create score cards for favorite wines while tasting, so one can easily keep track of a day's worth of tastings. Sort them by producer, designate, date, and score; and email the info to friends, business partners, or self.
The free ZAP App provides information about ZAP's Festival 2011 (January 27-29 in San Francisco) and the app will automatically upload real time information and updates regarding the producers represented at the festival, event schedules and special events. Having all this information at one's fingertips, carrying festival programs, score cards, and pencils will now be optional – it's all in the app! Beyond the ZAP festival, the functions of capturing favorite wines represented at any varietal festival make this app valuable to the wine lover all year long.
Whose brainchild is the ZAP App? As a nonprofit organization, ZAP relies heavily on its talented volunteer base. ZAP App was designed pro bono by Steven Spry of NuNu App using their EventApp™ Engine. Janett Peace, Special Projects Coordinator for ZAP spearheaded the design. Peace had used basic wine apps at other festivals and found them to be largely unhelpful to track wines. When she approached Spry with her idea, he agreed to donate his time to create this user-friendly, savvy event app that allows the user to experience multiple functions in a handy mobile application-to-go. "This is truly the wave of the future to make the most current, up-to-date event information available to participants on a mobile device," said Spry. "This is the next generation of event applications that have additional functionality and usefulness all year," said Peace. "We are truly excited to share this app with wine lovers everywhere."
