WASHINGTON, Jan. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- ZERO - The End of Prostate Cancer provided more than $46M for more than 12,000 prostate cancer patients in 2014 through its co-pay assistance and education program in partnership with The Patient Access Network (PAN) Foundation.
"There are more than two million prostate cancer patients in the U.S. today and too many of them are cut off from affording treatments they desperately need to fight the disease," said Jamie Bearse, CEO of ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer. "Our partnership with the PAN Foundation helps to stop the pain and suffering due to prostate cancer by providing education and support to thousands of patients with advanced disease."
The organizations joined forces in 2013 to provide comprehensive support for patients with metastatic castrate resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). The partnership leveraged the PAN Foundation's existing financial assistance program coupled with ZERO's best in class educational resources for patients and caregivers. In 2015, the co-pay fund has been expanded to cover non-metastatic advanced prostate cancer, casting a wider net to help many more men and families.
"Especially with the growth of high-deductible, high-copay health insurance plans, prostate cancer patients are facing greater challenges than ever affording their prescribed medications. Working together, the PAN Foundation and ZERO offer essential financial assistance and support services to these patients," said Daniel Klein, President and CEO of the PAN Foundation.
