Zenterio AB Expands IPTV Offering With New License to CodecSys(TM)
ZiDS Platform to extend core video management services with optimization from CodecSys(TM)
SALT LAKE CITY, April 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Broadcast International (OTC Bulletin Board: BCST) announced today that it has entered into a new customer license agreement with Zenterio AB of Sweden for a license to multiple channels of the CodecSys™ software platform. Zenterio will extend their software platform to include advanced transcoding & encoding from Broadcast International. After extensive integration and success from their initial product license of CodecSys™ for mobile applications, Zenterio expanded their services to include core-network video services like IPTV and VoD applications. Terms of the license call for both live and file-based services to flow over hundreds of channels. Financial terms were not disclosed.
CodecSys™ is a breakthrough, multi-codec video compression software platform that dramatically reduces video bandwidth requirements over satellite, cable, IP and wireless networks. By slashing bandwidth needs, CodecSys enables a new generation of applications such as ZiDS, Zenterio's Video content management platform.
In addition to the end-user license to CodecSys in support of hundreds of channels, the company has entered into a reseller partnership that will enable Zenterio to integrate CodecSys into their core offerings to the major broadband providers across Europe.
Zenterio provides an advanced software platform, ZiDS, to service providers that allow them to overcome the numerous proprietary hardware platforms with a single software interface. With the expansion beyond mobile to core network services, Zenterio captured several key service providers in the marketplace including Sweden, Finland, Norway, UK, Germany, Spain, and many others. By licensing CodecSys™, Zenterio completes the picture of delivering optimized video from first introduction into the network down to the set-top-box within the customer premise. This seamless connection allows for the most optimal video treatment, delivering cinema-quality video at the lowest feasible bandwidth.
"We were one of the original companies to benefit from the substantial bandwidth savings found with CodecSys™ with our innovative mobile solutions. Now that we've entered into the core network, we need a robust, flexible software platform to manage real-time video content as it flows from ingest to our STB end-points. CodecSys™ brings the performance of lower bandwidth and the flexibility of seamless integration with their software platform and we're excited to acquire more licenses for the hundreds of channels that we service," said Kent Lundberg, CEO of Zenterio.
"We are excited that Zenterio has expanded their agreement to license more channels of our CodecSys software framework to optimize their video content. As they roll out their platform our combined value will bring even greater benefit to their customers," said Rod Tiede, CEO, Broadcast International.
