Wounded Warrior Project Thanks Governor Scott for Support but Declines $3.2 Million in State Funding

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 25, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) announces that it has respectfully declined $3.2 million in funding, as budgeted by the Florida Legislature.  

"Wounded Warrior Project has long had a policy, set by our Board of Directors, to neither seek or accept government funding of any kind as we are first and foremost a conduit for the general public to support our nation's wounded veterans," stated WWP Executive Director Steve Nardizzi.  "While we are humbled and grateful that the Florida Legislature thought enough of our commitment to honoring and empowering wounded warriors, this appropriation would compromise the independence from government funding that has long been a tenet of our guiding principles."

Wounded Warrior Project emphatically thanks Governor Scott, a longtime WWP supporter, as well as all members of the Florida Legislature for their unyielding support of Florida's veterans.
