HOUSTON, March 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Worldwide Power Products said in a statement today that it is prepared for and has available portable power modules to help Japan with their emergency backup power requirements due to Friday's earthquake.
Will Perry, President of the industrial power equipment provider, says it has a total of over 20 megawatts of large portable Caterpillar power units available and ready for shipment to Japan. He added we would "do whatever needs to be done" to provide temporary back-up power to that strained region. "We have alerted to the relevant authorities and will ship our equipment as rapidly as possible when needed."
Worldwide Power Products has a track record of supplying emergency power at relatively short notice given its expansive inventory of over 100 new and used engines and generator sets. The Houston, Texas based company does not have a permanent office in Asia but has experience in providing quick backup power to the region.
Due to the emergency power gaps resulting from the failing Fukushim Daiichi nuclear power plant, temporary power will be crucial to Japan as it rebuilds the lives of its people ravaged by the devastating tsunami.
