World's Largest Nuclear Power Producer Selects InStep Software to Monitor Plants in France
EDF Group chooses InStep Software's PRiSM predictive asset analytics software for real-time monitoring of the health and performance of 58 nuclear reactors at 19 sites
CHICAGO, June 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- European energy producer EDF Group has selected InStep Software's predictive asset analytics software to monitor its nuclear power plant fleet in France.
EDF, the world leader in nuclear energy production, will use InStep's PRiSM software for continuous real-time asset monitoring of 58 nuclear units at 19 sites. The software will be used to identify and alert personnel of subtle changes in equipment behavior to provide early indication and diagnosis of asset health and performance problems.
Since 2008, EDF has been using PRiSM to centrally monitor its TAC and has extended progressively to hydro and other fossil-fuel facilities. The software will now be used to support EDF's ongoing efforts to improve the availability and reliability of critical nuclear assets, enable more targeted maintenance work and schedules, prioritize maintenance optimization, reduce operation and maintenance costs, and provide continuous equipment health checks.
"We continue to invest in advanced technology that supports reliable and safe power generation to deliver a sustainable source of electricity to homes and businesses in France and around the world. PRiSM gives us an advanced online monitoring solution capable of supporting our needs for the early identification and diagnosis of equipment related issues," said Benoit Richard of EDF Group.
PRiSM uses advanced algorithms to identify subtle changes in system and equipment behavior that are often the early warning signs of asset performance and health problems. The software automatically notifies plant personnel of detected problems allowing for diagnosis and repair prior to failure.
"Our software technology offers nuclear power plants a holistic real-time solution to continuously monitor the health and performance of critical plant equipment using a single application. We are very pleased to be selected by an industry leading utility like EDF for such an important project," said John Kalanik, president of InStep Software.
