Adolfo Cambiaso is, by most accounts, the best polo player in the world, most recently adding a 6th U.S. Open Polo Championship to his great wall of top tournaments from around the world.
John Muse is a seasoned, dedicated amateur player who lives in Dallas, TX and is chairman of HM Capital Partners. In the course of playing better competition every year for the past five years, Mr. Muse has started to develop a keen interest in developing the best possible string of polo ponies to compete at the top level.
Two years ago John Muse asked Andres Weisz, the professional polo player who has led his Lucchese team for the past years, to introduce him to several top players, Adolfo Cambiaso being one of them.
The relationship between Adolfo Cambiaso and John Muse grew further and eventually plans to play together started to take shape. This winter, Adolfo played Allie, John Muse's best horse, in the high goal season including the U.S. Open that just ended in Florida. The other two players on the Lucchese team are Andres Weisz and Jason Crowder, both 5 goal players.
Amazingly enough, in his almost 20-year professional career, Adolfo Cambiaso has never played at Santa Barbara: "For many years my polo friends have described the beauty and competitive spirit of Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club. Now I am excited to experience it firsthand this summer as Captain of Team Lucchese during the 100th anniversary of the Bombardier Pacific Coast Open." Adding, "As a legendary company in the equestrian world, Lucchese has maintained a reputation for the highest quality and craftsmanship. With Team Lucchese we look forward to continuing the legend on the polo fields."
The high goal season at Santa Barbara www.sbpolo.com has three tournaments starting with the Robert Skene Trophy, Sunday matches July 18 and 25, the Lucchese USPA America Cup, August 1 and 8, and ending with the Bombardier Pacific Coast Open, August 15, 22, and 29.
Eight, very strong teams are entered this year: Audi, led by owner Marc Ganzi, ERG led by Scott Wood, Andy Busch's Grant's Farm who is defending champion from 2009, John Muse's Lucchese:, Ben Soleimani's Mansour, Tom Barrack's Piocho, Bob Jornayvaz' Valiente and Lyndon Lea's Zacara.
