SPANAWAY, Wash., Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Woofers Grooming & Goodies has installed the World's Longest Biscuit Buffet – a doggie-treat browsing bar 40 feet long that holds 600 pounds of assorted snacks in 30 bins, from Honey & Blueberry Hearts to Cheese & Liver Stars.

The store will host the grand opening of the buffet at 2:00 p.m. on Oct. 26, with the human and canine public invited to attend. Woofers is at 16511 Pacific Ave. South in Spanaway, Wash.
The 2-foot-high buffet in the front window of the store offers convenient shopping for both dogs and their humans, says owner Lyn Borcherding, whose family pets are a Golden Doodle, a Standard Poodle and two yellow Labs.
"My dogs have taste tested all the treats in the biscuit buffet," she says. "Your dogs are welcome in my store. They can sample."
Borcherding and her husband Jon bought the onetime grooming-only shop at 16511 Pacific Ave South five years ago. They refurbished and expanded it to 4,000 square feet, adding retail dog accessories and the popular treats, both plain and fancy.
"People love to feed their dogs treats," she says. "Something about feeding their dog makes them feel connected to their dog. Treats are also a good way to train with positive reinforcement."
The shop's new display, bright-red bins of biscuits on a butter-colored wooden cabinet, offers scoop-your-own shopping.
A sealable bag full of biscuits from the traditional side costs $2, $4 from the side with such novelties as Carob Chip Hex, Honey & Blueberry Hearts, Turkey & Pumpkin, Beef Beets & Carrots, Peanut Butter Crunchers, Peanut Butter & Honey Hearts, Sweet Potato & Pumpkin Stars, Liva Hearts, Cheez Hearts, P'Nut Butter, Veggie Hearts, Charmint and Chick'N Fingers.
Even more exotic treats, such as venison and wild boar, are on other shelves. Like parents, some customers are picky about ingredients – no wheat, no chicken – while others buy whatever their pet fancies. (The store does not carry treats made in China.)
"Some dogs are very particular about the size of their treats," Borcherding says. "Bring your Woofers shopping with you and let them decide which flavor will be their favorite."
