TORONTO, Aug. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ - Woodland Biofuels, a leading cellulosic ethanol company, today announced that William B. White has joined Woodland's senior management team as Chief Operating Officer. Mr. White was formerly the President of DuPont Canada (1,000 employees, $1 billion revenue) and had an over 30 year career with the global DuPont company in Operations (Director, Global Operations), Marketing, Engineering and leadership of global business units. A long time champion of sustainability, he has recently been working extensively with developing businesses particularly in cleantech as a member of the board of MaRS, the advisory board of the Sustainable Chemistry Alliance, and in consulting.
"I'm absolutely delighted to welcome Bill as our COO. With his background in managing the construction and operation of chemical plants worldwide, Bill brings exactly the kind of experience Woodland needs at this stage of our growth from a technology company to a commercial producer of automotive fuel. We already have a strong core team and Bill's senior level global experience with one of the world's largest and best managed chemical companies is a great addition," said Greg Nuttall, President & CEO of Woodland.
Woodland is currently constructing a large biomass-to-ethanol demonstration plant in Sarnia Ontario. The plant uses patented chemical process technologies, non-food feedstock, and is expected to show that Woodland will be the lowest cost commercial producer of automotive fuel in North America. The demonstration plant will be completed this year and Woodland is beginning the process of ramping up for commercialization.
"I'm tremendously excited to be coming on board Woodland at this point in its development. Woodland's technology will give it significant competitive advantage in a market where global demand will be growing to meet the sustainability challenge. I look forward to being a part of that," said Mr. White.
