Women's Global Philanthropy Leadership To Be Focus of International Conference in Chicago March 10-11
Top Donors, Nonprofit Leaders and Experts Will Discuss Role of Women as Change Agents During Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University Symposium
INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Women leaders from around the globe who are changing lives and communities internationally will gather to share ideas and experiences and discuss the power of women's philanthropy March 10-11, 2011 in Chicago, Ill.
"Women World Wide Leading through Philanthropy" is the theme of the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University's 22nd annual symposium, led by the Women's Philanthropy Institute at the Center. JPMorgan Chase is the presenting sponsor. The event will bring together leading philanthropists, nonprofit sector professionals and researchers to explore how and why women give, lead and collaborate through philanthropy.
Speakers and participants will discuss what motivates women to make a difference, international similarities and differences, how women's philanthropy differs from men's, and how cultural barriers impede women's exercise of their full power in philanthropy. The symposium will deepen understanding about the pivotal role of women as leaders in philanthropy globally.
The event will begin with a keynote speech by Peggy Dulany, Founder and Chair, The Synergos Institute, and Founder of its Global Philanthropists Circle. It will conclude with a discussion of new directions and trends with panelists Judy Belk, Senior Vice President, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors; Nicky McIntyre, Executive Director, Mama Cash; and Dr. Juree Vichit-Vadakan, Director, Center for Philanthropy and Civil Society at the National Institute of Development Administration in Bangkok.
Two dozen speakers including donors, nonprofit leaders and researchers from six continents will lead sessions ranging from gender differences in giving in Great Britain, family philanthropy and the next generation, and marketing campaigns, to leadership issues, celebrity philanthropy, and women's philanthropy in China.
