Winning Designs From Last Night's 'Project Runway' Episode Now Available For A Limited Time At Babies"R"Us® Stores Nationwide And Online At Babiesrus.com
Challenge winners Christopher Palu and Sonji Williams Team Up with Heidi Klum to Create Outfits for Her Truly Scrumptious Collection for Kids
WAYNE, N.J., Sept. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Babies"R"Us® today announced that the infant apparel outfits created by Project Runway designers Christopher Palu and Sonji Williams were selected as the winning designs on last night's episode of the hit series by a fashion panel including Klum, designer Michael Kors, Marie Claire Fashion Director Nina Garcia and guest judge and new mom Hilary Duff. Palu and Williams' pieces are now available for purchase exclusively at Babies"R"Us stores nationwide and online at Babiesrus.com. Beginning today, the limited-edition looks can be found while supplies last, under the Truly Scrumptious brand, which was designed by the show's host, Heidi Klum. The fashionable mom of four launched the Truly Scrumptious baby-to-big kid collection at Babies"R"Us earlier this month.
During the Project Runway challenge, which aired Thursday, September 27 at 9pm EST, Heidi Klum welcomed the then six remaining designers to Babies"R"Us Union Square in New York City where she introduced them to her Truly Scrumptious line, an unexpected assortment of apparel, accessories, bedding, room decor, furniture, gear and more for little ones. Together with mentor Tim Gunn, the designers were asked to create looks for a little boy and little girl that would be sold as part of her Fall 2012 Truly Scrumptious collection.
The contestants were instructed to ensure their designs were consistent with the Truly Scrumptious brand attributes: truly fun, truly fresh, truly scrumptious pieces that are cute enough for baby, with butterfly, dinosaur, flower and monster details, and practical enough for busy moms looking for wash-and-wear and affordability. Each contestant had 30 minutes to sketch their Truly Scrumptious looks and then one day to create outfits that were judged on creativity, salability and style.
The winning outfit for little boys was created by 27-year-old Boston native Sonji Williams. Showcasing her attention to detail, Williams designed a perfectly tailored charcoal gray, fleece jacket and pant set, complete with a 100% cotton monster bash print bodysuit underneath. The jacket has eye-catching details, including denim elbow patches and tuxedo-style denim lapel for added appeal. This three-piece set for kids, sizes 0 to 24 months, is available for $29.99.
Christopher Palu, a 24-year-old Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) graduate born and raised in Massapequa, NY designed an adorable dress featuring dozens of 3D flower appliques, which has been interpreted from its original white to a more fall-appropriate and kid-friendly navy. The stretch twill dress and matching cropped jacket for kids, sizes 0 to 24 months, is available for $29.99.
"We're delighted to offer our customers these designs from Christopher Palu and Sonji Williams in our stores nationwide as part of the Truly Scrumptious by Heidi Klum collection," said Neil Mulhall, Vice President, Divisional Merchandising Manager, Babies"R"Us, U.S. "These limited-edition pieces are stylish and fun, yet practical, and are sure to be a hit with parents seeking playful outfits for their fashionable tots."
"As a mom and a designer, I love kids' clothes that are whimsical and 'cool,' which was the inspiration for my new Truly Scrumptious collection at Babies"R"Us," said Heidi Klum. "This Project Runway episode was really special to me because, for the past year, I've put so much of my passion, mom know-how and design experience to work creating an exciting collection of baby-to-big-kid products. I'm truly proud of some of the stand-out pieces that the designers created, and I'm excited to offer the two winning looks as part of my Truly Scrumptious line, now available at Babies"R"Us stores nationwide and online at Babiesrus.com/HeidiKlum."
