Wilshire Law Firm Files Lawsuit Against Sabre Corporation For Hotel Data Breach

LOS ANGELES, July 20, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Wednesday, July 12, 2017, Bobby Saadian and Colin Jones of Wilshire Law Firm filed a proposed class action lawsuit in a federal district court in California, on behalf of their client, Sandra Smith, and similarly situated individuals, against Sabre Corporation.

The complaint alleges that Sabre Corporation violated California constitutional laws and unfair competition laws; breached implied contracts and acted negligently, when the company failed to safeguard and protect hotel guests' information from threat of being lost, stolen, misused, and/or disclosed to unauthorized parties.

The 8-month data breach compromised payment data from hundreds of thousands of customers, who booked hotels between August 2016 and March 2017. A non-authorized party gained access to private, financial information from customers, who made hotel reservations; their payment card information was compromised, including: full name, card and account number, card expiration date, card verification code, email, phone number, address and other private identifiable information.  

The proposed class action against Sabre Corporation has been filed to seek justice for hotel guests, whose privacy rights have been violated, and who were exposed to the risk of fraud and identity theft.

Sabre Corporation had a duty to maintain Sabre SynXis Central Reservations system's security, which thousands of lifestyle properties use around the world; as well, ensure that hotel guests' information was, adequately, safe and protected by implementing timely processes, which could promptly detect a data breach.

A number of hotels using Sabre SynXis Central Reservations system have, reportedly, admitted to the data breach. Among those are Trump Hotels, the Four Seasons, Hard Rock International, Montage Beverly Hills, Loews Hotels and many others.
