WILLIAMSPORT, Pa., Dec. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- U-Haul Company's sustainability initiatives are providing Pennsylvanians with more moving options and greater convenience at U-Haul Moving & Storage of Williamsport at 238 Penn St.
"We are excited U-Haul has taken the building and renovated it into a modern facility, as it will serve the needs of our citizens," Williamsport Mayor Gabriel Campana said. "Throughout the process, U-Haul leaders have been very cooperative with our economic team and we wish them luck."
Located on nearly 2.8 acres, the property includes a 53,383-square-foot building that once housed the Eureka Paper Box Company manufacturing facility. The area surrounding the new store, a few blocks from Lycoming College, is bustling with commercial activity and offers U-Haul customers easy access to Interstate 180 via the Basin Street exit.
U-Haul opened for business at the Penn Street store on Aug. 19, one year after acquiring the property.
In addition to U-Haul truck and trailer rentals, the full-service facility has 520 indoor storage units, towing equipment and pre-tow inspection, U-Box portable moving and self-storage containers, moving supplies, truck sales, propane and much more.
"We have been here since the early 1980s in a former gas station," said general manager Paul Garbacz, who is excited about the store's new location. "As the community has grown due to the natural gas industry, we have broadened our services to meet the more transient workforce. Having state-of-the-art, climate-controlled storage to offer the community is exciting."
Internationally known as the birthplace of Little League Baseball, Williamsport hosts the Little League World Series each summer. If this treasured town makes your travel plans, be sure to utilize the home-run products and services that Garbacz and his team have on the U-Haul lineup card.
The acquisition of U-Haul Moving & Storage of Williamsport was driven by U-Haul Company's Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul® supports infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. Our adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings.
Contact the Williamsport facility at (570) 326-5161 or visit the store. Hours of operation are from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday and Saturday; 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Reserve equipment at uhaul.com or contact Reservations at 1-800-GO-UHAUL.
