Will Liberal Civil Rights Leaders Show Up to Debate Allegations of Past Tea Party Racism?
WASHINGTON, Feb. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Conservative black leader Mychal Massie, chairman of the Project 21 leadership network, will debate Al Sharpton, National Urban League President Marc Morial and former D.C. Congressional Delegate Walter Fauntroy at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 28, 2011 in the Zenger Room at the National Press Club (529 14th Street NW, 13th floor, Washington, D.C.) – regardless of whether they show up.
Massie challenged Sharpton, Morial and Fauntroy to justify accusations that the Tea Party movement is steeped in racism. A room is reserved for the debate.
Fauntroy, for example, claimed in a August 26, 2010 National Press Club press conference that the tea parties and the KKK are interchangeable.
Fauntroy, Morial and Sharpton have been repeatedly contacted by certified mail, fax, telephone, calls and e-mails since September 8, 2010, to invite them to participate in a debate. None have given the courtesy of an acknowledgement. If they do not attend, Massie will address their past public comments alleging tea party racism.
Project 21, a leading voice of black conservatives since 1992, is sponsored by the National Center for Public Policy Research (http://www.nationalcenter.org).
